4 Tricks To A Stylish Barn Wedding

Getting married in a barn can allow you to have a stunning, rustic wedding. Getting married in a barn doesn't mean you have to sacrifice on style or glamour.  A barn wedding can feel both intimate and beautiful at the same time.

#1 Rent Furniture that Matches the Venue

More than likely, you will need to rent the tables and chairs that will be used at your barn wedding. You don't want to go with sterile white plastic tables and metal chairs. Rent some rustic farm tables, made from wood, along with some wood-based chairs. Chairs and farm table rentals will help the tables, which are one of the biggest physical elements at your wedding, fit in with the surrounding decorations.

#2 Add Some Color

The inside of most barns tends to have more brown tones inside, which is actually great. You have the perfect neutral color pallet to work with. Add some color to your wedding venue. You can bring in greenery to go for more of a natural feeling. If you want more of an elegant feeling, get off-white tulle and use it to drape on the wall behind the wedding party table, or hang it from the rafters to create a more elegant look. Draping fabric from the ceiling can help make the space feel more intimate as well and can also help improve the acoustics in the barn.

You can also add some colors to your table settings. You can keep things natural with flowers or other greenery on the table. Add a little pop with colored cloth napkins or a colored table runner.

#3 Add Some Twinkling Lights

If the wedding or reception will be in the evening, be sure to add some lights to the barn. Putting up twinkling lights everywhere can help create a more intimate feeling in the evening time. You can put battery-powered candles on all the tables. Turning down the light for dinner, for example, can make things feel more intimate. Then you can turn up the lights on the dance floor and enjoy a good, old-fashioned barn party.

#4 Think About the Heat

Barns are not known for having the best heating systems. If you will be getting married during a hot time of the year, be prepared to help your guests deal with the heat. Rent some large fans in order to keep air circulating inside of the barn. Plan to keep the barn doors open to promote airflow. Have little electric fans for your guests to use, especially if you have elderly guests who can easily be overwhelmed by the heat. Set up some misters outside of the barn for cooling off.

When planning a barn wedding, make sure the furniture you rent fits with the overall feeling of the barn. Don't be afraid of adding some color through draping fabric, vegetation, and accent decorations. Add some twinkling lights for some evening romance, and be sure to plan for the heat inside of the barn.
